To continue the reflection on the contribution of Italian economic thought and to overcome some study and teaching of the economy often unilateral and formalistic, we dedicate this reflection to the economist Piero Sraffa. We interviewed Fabrizio Mittiga, economic consultant company, graduated from the University of Rome in 1978 with a thesis in political economy, whose rapporteur was the executor of P. Sraffa. In 2006 he also received a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Nice in France.
The author has treated, as mentioned, Piero Sraffa (1898-1983) graduated in 1920 with Luigi Einaudi preparing a thesis on "The monetary inflation in Italy and after the war." He became a professor at Perugia in 1923, he won a chair in Cagliari in 1926. In the Fascist regime, he moved to Cambridge in England in 1927 at the invitation of Keynes. Initially involved in the monetary and banking problems (The Bank Crisis in Italy, 1922) and then to develop a critique of the Marshallian theory of the enterprise and industry ("On the relation between cost and quantity produced, 1925) and running the line of forms of market research, especially on imperfect competition ("The law of returns in a competitive environment," 1926).
early thirties has undertaken an extensive research work aims to recreate the setting of the classical economists. She edited the critical edition of the works of David Ricardo (1951-55). His work "Production of Commodities by Means of Commodities" (1960) has opened a wide debate within the economic theory is a radical critique of neoclassical theory (marginal) dominant, in particular with regard to questions concerning the value and income distribution.
